Asia-Pacific Association of Echocardiography

The Asia-Pacific Association of Echocardiography (AAE) is a newly formed society that aims to explore state-of-the-art techniques in the field of echocardiography, to provide educational opportunities in all aspects of echocardiography for members in the Asia-Pacific region, and to collaborate with other international societies active in the field of cardiovascular imaging (American Society of Echocardiography, ECOSIAC (Inter-American Society of Echocardiography), and European Association of Cardio-Vascular Imaging).

Currently, in the Asia-Pacific region, societies with some research achievements, such as the Korean Society of Echocardiography and the Japanese Society of Echocardiography, are actively interacting with overseas societies, but each of them is interacting with ASE and EACVI individually, so the need for an echocardiography society representing the Asian region, such as EACVI, has emerged.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the Asian-Pacific Congress of Doppler Echocardiography (APCDE) was founded in 1985, and at the last APCDE meeting in Fukuoka, the Asian-Pacific Association of Echocardiography (AAE) was founded in March 2012 with the aim of creating a more organized and active echocardiography society representing the Asia-Pacific region by uniting the national echocardiography societies of China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

Dr. Jae .K. Oh was elected as the first president and plans to hold scientific meetings in four countries every year, and the 1st AAE Inaugural Meeting was held on December 6-8, 2013 in Beijing, China. The 2nd AAE meeting was held on November 8-9, 2014 at the Grand Hilton Hotel (Seoul, Korea) in conjunction with the Korean Society of Echocardiography Fall Meeting.
